Adopting an Aussie

Aussie Rescue of Minnesota, Inc. (ARM) is a non-profit adoption and referral service dedicated to placing abandoned Aussies with new, permanent homes. All of the Aussies available for adoption  have been temperament tested, spayed/neutered, are current on their shots, and are heartworm checked and/or treated.

If a suitable dog is found for you, we do ask for a small adoption fee to help us cover any medical work we have done for the dog and to help us continue to help other Aussies in need.

Aussie Temperament

Aussies are smart, energetic dogs who can be as stubborn as and smarter than the toughest of range stock. They are generally high energy dogs and need some kind of activity in which to focus their energy. All Aussies have herding instinct to some degree.  Find out more about Aussies.

Non-Profit Organization

Aussie Rescue of Minnesota, Inc. (ARM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit adoption and referral organization dedicated to placing homeless Australian Shepherds in loving, permanent homes.

Aussies At A Glance

Aussies are smart, energetic dogs who can be as stubborn as and smarter than the toughest of range stock. They are generally high energy dogs and need some kind of activity in which to focus their energy.

The dogs from working lines have more herding instinct and energy and can be harder to keep as pets. Some dogs from working lines may not be suitable for homes with small children due to the dog’s intense desire to control moving objects.
